Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

When paddling in Sydney Harbour, the bottom half of your body does often get wet. We suggest you to wear swimmers with a t-shirt/rash vest on top plus shorts.

Please, wear whatever feels comfortable when paddling.

If you'd like, you can wear waterproof shoes (thongs) but you can also go barefoot on the kayaks.

What should I bring?

Yourself and a good sense of adventure!

Of course, your sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle.

A dry of change of clothes if needed.

Are children allowed to kayak?

Everyone is welcome at Lavender Bay Kayaking provided they are 16 years and over

Please, note that children under 16 years old must always be accompanied by an adult.

Are there height and weight restrictions for the kayaks?

Our kayaks are shorter than some kayaks but wider than others which makes them very stable when paddling.

The weight restriction for our kayaks is 90kg.

What if it is raining or windy?

It is very hard to predict the weather, especially in Sydney Harbour.

Lavender Bay Kayaking will always put the safety of paddlers first so we are checking the weather multiple times before you are heading out on the water.

We want your experience to be a lifelong memory so we are ready to reschedule bookings if the weather forecast is not great on the day.

Do I need to book online?

You can book through our booking system on our Kayak Tours Page.

You can also send us an email at lavenderbaykayaking@gmail.com
